This add-on, paid feature will be available exclusively to Spotify Premium subscribers, allowing them to create their own remixes of their favorite tracks.
This move follows similar partnerships with Universal Music Group (UMG), Merlin, and other industry giants such as Sony Music and Warner Music Group. The initiative is designed with respect for human creativity and the rights of Kobalt’s songwriters at its core.
"Fans have always looked for a deeper connection with the songs they love," states Kobalt CEO Laurent Hubert, emphasizing that the new tools are built on an ethical model training foundation and fair compensation for those directly involved.
A central pillar of the initiative is the provision for fair remuneration for Kobalt’s creators, who will receive appropriate royalty payments for every new version created. At the same time, to maintain attribution to the original work, every AI-generated remix variation will link directly back to the original song, boosting both recognition and stream counts for the primary catalog.
