AUTODIA with the Greek delegation @jazzahead

In one of its most brilliant moments, the Greek jazz scene was worthily represented this year at the jazzahead (24-26/4), with the largest Greek delegation to have made its presence in Bremen to date. Present, for the second time after 2023, was AUTODIA, represented by Ilianna Antoniou, Head of Communication & International Relations, and Anastasios Grivas from the Documentation Department.

Performers, composers, managers and representatives of organizations, associations, music stages and festivals were hosted and interacted with their foreign colleagues at the Greek pavilion of the Ministry of Culture (Polyxeni Liva & Chrysoula Koulouraki - Department of Music / General Directorate of Contemporary Culture) to unite their voices, highlighting the vision, value, musical talent, but also the solidarity of Greek jazz musicians.

Jazzahead, the most popular jazz expo & festival in Europe, apart from the trade fair with national and niche pavilions, hosts a multitude of live performances, workshops and panel discussions. Above all, however, it is a live platform for connection and networking between artists and professionals in music production, distribution and promotion.

New collaborations and projects emerge through this event, new talented performers develop, innovative synergies upgrade the industry, strongly confirming the usefulness of our analog world.

Our Society contributed to supporting our member’s, composer and trumpeter Andreas Polyzogopoulos concert, with his trio (Grigoris Theodoridis-double bass, Wajdi Riahi-piano), on Wednesday 24/4; a moving half-hour of virtuoso performance yet genuine expression and sensitivity, with three tracks from his album “Petrichor” that we all had the opportunity to attend in the packed music hall of the cultural center next to Messe Bremen.

A unique pulse and special vitality were given by the people of Music from Greece / Music Export Office, led by Angeliki Spyridaki, who contributed decisively to this year's organization, from the "Meet the Greeks" reception with delicacies from all over Greece that captivated foreigners for hours at the Greek pavilion, to the networking and success of the entire venture, while the Jazz Solidarity Network and its director Kosmas Anagnostopoulos contributed, among other, with an offering of Greek wines.

Also present were representatives of Athens Jazz -artistic director Antonis Zouganelis, co-curator Aggelos Kleitsikas-, Half Note Jazz Club’s artistic director Thrasos Irinis, manager Helen Kontos (United World) and many creators and performers -AUTODIA’s direct & indirect members included- such as Erini Tornesaki, Melina Paxinos, Nikos Vogiatzakis, Lia Hide, Giorgos Bereris, Nasia Gofa, Eleanna Pitsikaki, Athina Kontou, Tina Giannouli and others.
