The Organization Moves Forward with New Partnerships

AUTODIA engaged in a series of key contacts and meetings at MIDEM, held June 5–8 in Cannes. Once again, AUTODIA participated in this distinguished global music trade fair, aimed at music industry professionals and organized for 53 consecutive years in France.

Our Organization was represented by President Mr. Yiannis Glezos and Communications & Public Relations Manager Ms. Ilianna Antoniou, and was hosted at the Greek pavilion of the Ministry of Culture (P4.B16). The pavilion was curated by the Music Department of the Directorate of Performing Arts and Cinema (General Directorate of Contemporary Culture, Ministry of Culture) and was represented this year by Ms. Evdoxia Spyridaki and Ms. Chrysoula Koulouraki.

In the context of MIDEM, briefing sessions were held with representatives of sister societies with whom AUTODIA is moving directly to sign reciprocal representation agreements. Meetings were also held with representatives of major music publishers' associations and digital streaming services entering the Greek market.

The new cycle of reciprocal agreements opens with SACM (Mexico), MESAM (Turkey), UBC (Brazil), and JASRAC (Japan). It will continue with SGAE (Spain), TEOSTO (Finland), and ARTISJUS (Hungary), followed by major European societies.

Representatives of international societies and bodies welcomed with relief and satisfaction the news regarding a healthy successor state in collective rights management in Greece. They also noted the guaranteed, steady growth and consolidation of AUTODIA at all levels, backed by the full technical and financial support of CISAC (International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers), following AEPI's definitive expulsion from the Confederation, as announced at its General Assembly in Warsaw last week.

This year's trade show was attended by 4,800 artists/bands, representatives of Collective Management Organizations (CMOs), music publishers, digital music services, record labels, managers, concert promoters, and European Parliament officials from 80 countries (+9% compared to 2017 attendance).
