CISAC presented its Global Collections Report 2025, with impressive results for 2024: global royalty collections for creators reached €13.97 billion, an increase of 6.6% and marking the ninth consecutive year of growth. Since 2015, total revenues have increased by more than 65%, confirming that creative work remains consistently valuable and resilient, even in a rapidly changing environment.

The Digital Economy Drives Growth

Digital uses are clearly the main driver of growth. Revenues from streaming platforms increased by 11.2%, reaching €5.14 billion, and now account for almost 37% of total revenues. Subscription and on-demand services are changing the way creative work is consumed and valued, driving digital revenues to historic highs.

At the same time, the live events and public performance sector has seen an impressive recovery (+9.6%, €3.6 billion), confirming the dynamic return of live entertainment. Broadcasting revenues remained stable (€3.94 billion), while physical media sales and private copying continued their long-term decline as audiences increasingly turn to digital content.

Music Takes the Main Stage

Music remains the undisputed leader, with revenues of €12.59 billion (+7.2%), accounting for over 90% of the total. This is followed by literary works (+7.3%), audiovisual productions (+1.1%) and visual arts (+0.9%), while the theater sector recorded a slight decline (-3.4%).

At the regional level, almost all markets grew, with Western Europe (+6.1%) remaining the leading market worldwide.

The Challenges of Artificial Intelligence

Despite its growth, artificial intelligence (AI) brings new challenges. According to the Report, the unlicensed use of creative content for training or production through AI can deprive creators of up to 25% of their revenue, or approximately €8.5 billion per year. CISAC emphasizes the need for transparency, licensing, and fair remuneration so that human creators remain at the center.

As CISAC Director General Gadi Oron pointed out:

"This year's results are proof of the adaptability and resilience of creators worldwide — but Artificial Intelligence brings new challenges that require transparency and appropriate safeguards."

By 2028, the value of works produced by GenAI is expected to reach €40 billion, reducing creators' revenues by 24%. This means a loss of €4 billion in 2028 alone, with GenAI predicted to capture 1/5 of streaming revenue and 60% of music library revenue.

For Autodia: Innovation with a focus on the Creator

The findings of the Report confirm that intellectual property is one of the most resilient pillars of the modern economy. For Autodia, these developments are both a confirmation and an inspiration: confirmation of the value of the creative ecosystem and inspiration for action towards a more technologically mature and fair environment for creators.

Autodia invests in data-driven solutions, enhances transparency in rights management, and promotes the responsible use of artificial intelligence, with the aim of educating and supporting creators and ensuring fair remuneration for every form of exploitation of their work.

Looking Ahead

The CISAC 2025 Report sends a clear message: creative industries are growing, digitization is redefining the value of art, and human creativity remains the driving force behind all technological progress.

2024 was a landmark year that shows that the future of creation belongs to those who invest in knowledge, innovation, and collaboration.
